When GRID Autosport was announced all those months ago we had a slight feeling of panic when it wasn’t announced for the next-gen consoles. Would our beloved racing series not be getting the spruce up it deserves on PC? Or would we get dragged down with last-generation textures?
Fret ye not fellow racers because the gods of gasoline have heard your prayers; GRID Autosport will be arriving on PC with an optional HD texture pack to making the upcoming racer look more glorious than ever before…

Hurling $300,000 racecars round a track at 160mph on an eight-year old wheezing box seems a bit of a shame to us, so if your PC’s got enough power under the hood then the GRID Autosport HD texture pack can be yours. The 4K texture pack will be available to download today, boosting visual fidelity and making the cars look shinier and vroomier as they tear it round Silverstone.
Codemasters’ community manager Ben Walke said “We wanted to make the pack optional as the 4K textures included will be a small hit on your performance, so instead of bumping up the minimum specs for everyone we thought we’d leave the decision in your own hands."
Walke also went into detail on the DLC plans for GRID Autosport, referencing two distinct flavours of add-ons - Car packs and mini expansions. The car packs will include a variety of new cars, and three are already planned. Mini-expansions on the other hands will add new content to both the single and multiplayer experience, with each mini-expansion having a specific theme. The content can include new cars, new game modes and even new locations. We’ll bring you more news on these as and when we hear of them.
GRID Autosport is out today in the US, while Europeans will need to wait until this Friday to get their hands on it.
